Noisy Lifter
« on: November 27, 2014, 10:10:26 AM »
Hi I currently own a mgzr that I'm looking to swap for a calibra this guy has
Bodywork on the calibra I've not seen a cleaner one for a while full black leather 140k owned by a vicor
It's a ecotec like most little bit tappy which is putting me off but he said it's been sat about 2 month in his garage
As for the car is grey and body is near mint and interior is also good wit 12 months mot I'm considering a deal just the tapping noise from what sounds like sticky valve any advice would be good

Title amended.

I wouldn't worry about it. Chuck some lifter fluid (Wynns do one) in if it's bothers you that much.
Lewis Hamilton said that winning his first race felt better than having sex. Kimi's reply to that was, Maybe he never had sex.

ALZ1307 says don't  worry about it. I assume you have done the basic engine checks: oil level (if seriously low the tappets can be starved of oil), mayo (water in oil) and blow by).  At the end of the day a top end overhaul would be far cheaper than major bodywork!

Top end overhaul! Christ, bottle of Wynn's is cheaper! I would 'assume' OP had checked oil level etc tbh! :)

I imagine they have but life has told me never to assume anything. An experienced friend brought a classic car swayed by the fantastic wood and leather interior. It was a right lemon and was eventually broken for parts - at a profit! :)

This is true, I watched a very old Gas Monkey Garage last night, Aaron & Richard bought what they thought was a gem, till they had it up on the ramp, new chassis required....
