Yep. I have Avon ZZ3 215/35Z R18, my TomTom sat nav has a -5mph difference to the speedo & I had to fit longer front springs to prevent rubbing. I bought the 18 inch wheels before I knew about them having any effect.
I have enough trouble with 215/40R17s on our potholed roads!  I've cracked one wheel, severely bent another one and more recently bend the flanges on two more! :(  Part of the problem is that after-market alloys tend to be slightly weaker than OEM wheels, especially if they are light-weight rims, but the main one is that ultra-low profile tyres simply don't provide enough of a cushion against deep, sharp-edged potholes. :(

I have the manufactures wheels with 205 55r15s and cant fault them. I drove up and down a private farm track everyday for a year with no problems. Even shocks were sound. The track was about half mile with huge pot holes and rocks that on the odd occasion I ended up driving over. I took the car to the garage 3 times worried about breaks.
All was good.
Stick with standard  ;) (well maybe just wheels and interior)
Feel free to tell me I'm wrong  :)

Oh and cheers for the info about your rolling road trip Nath. As soon as I am able to check I'll post any results I get from dyno. Appreciating the honesty at clubcalibra.

That's why I'd go for 215/45 R17 and get the wings rolled...

Only if the rest of the car is Standard, but even then, the Standard wheels look too 80's now...

Considering the car didn't even exist in the 80's! LOL

Standard wheels are fine, and thankfully some of us prefer them :) I can't abide a lot of after market stuff, the Calibra doesn't need it, doesn't make it 'wrong' though.
Lewis Hamilton said that winning his first race felt better than having sex. Kimi's reply to that was, Maybe he never had sex.

The years roll by but style lives on... Jking
Very true  though ALZ, I have to admit I keep getting tempted by body bits and kits so on from looking at ppls amazing looking cally's on here  but I love the look of the car as it is. This is my own personal view of course. Though would really like to take it up a few bhp to enjoy it more :) And respray same colour, plus shopping car park dents removal!
