Can the EGR valve be clean or do you need to replace it? Could this reduce emissions?

You know what it does right?

I know its about the exhaust gases and recirculating,as my motor is failing on emissions I was wondering if this could be removed and cleaned or do you have to replace it?

I already said. Clean it with carb cleaner, it's only a valve that'll clog up over time :)
