Cool, I'll have some of that then!

I take it I just do the faded panels with that & the t-cut or do I do the whole thing?
you can do the whole car it will still give you an even finish. the worst one i ever did was a seirra it was almost white but once id finished (a whole day later) it looked like it had had respray.i recommend it i still use it on the calibra once a year to restore my colour.

May as well make a day of it then! :D

The Calibra's having a partial re-spray again this year so doubt I'll give it go if the Veccy turns out well. 8)

Going to pick one of these up from the local Screwfix at the weekend, lazy arse I am!

that will do the job but you will need the white compound buffer attachment to use with the g3.

G3 Is The Stuff... Get On IT!!
Eddie was driving down the road and a met a car coming the other way.  Although there was room to pass easily, Eddie forced the oncoming car to slow down and wound down his window and shouted 'Pig' .  The other driver looked in his rear view mirror and swore at Eddie.  Then his car hit the pig.

well they say:

wash with mitt (not sponge)
chamois
claybar and then

1)megulairs stage one paint cleaner (go over a panel at a time and then apply stage 2 resin so you seal the paintwork and then wax with stage 3 carnuba wax and then quik detailer

by this time it should take 6 hrs + (done it a few times but i think i may have to change to some other product as it dont stay red for long

fadded red is a common prob for cars thats been in direct sunlight, the problem is the pigmentation in the paint being blasted by uv.red by far is the worst colour but not the only colour to be effected by this, white is also the same but has a less visual effect as it turns a creamy colour. g3 is a good way todo it but unless you have a proper buffing machine etc it can be a real pain, its not like simple t cutting, its a proccess of heating the paint up and moving it around whilst cutting into the paint to get to lower lvls.

i would suggest carnuba wax, can be done by hand and doesnt actually cut at all, what it does is put a film on the car that protects it and brings the pigment back to life, it wont instantly fix the car but if carried out over a long period of normal polishing then carunba waxing you can build the the colour back to a nice lvl. once the pigment is fully gone though there is little you can go except for the short time fixs at which point a full buff which has a chance of fixing the paint or a full respray which will eliminate the pigment problem all together.

theres nothing wrong with a red car you just need to spend more time in keeping it red especially flame red as its only a basecoat and no laquer (vauxhall lazy asses)

I'm suffering "lazybastarditis" & haven't got round to it yet! :D

I've spent just about every bloody weekend working on either the Calibra or the other Vectra so kind of neglected this one. Will get my arse in gear soon though!
