Home made front bumper skirt...hmmmm
« on: September 15, 2011, 17:28:45 PM »
Right i has this idea rattling around in my head....i need a front bumper extension for the cally but at the moment cash is erm....tight so while bored at work i had an idea.....ive got a old bumper behind the shed spare wich will be going to the skip....SO the idea was to cut the bumper up and make a bumper spoiler as i have nothing to lose  lol

So out cane the wood saw and i cut the bottom off the bumper and taped it to the cally....now from the side it dont look bad

from closer up top down

BUT from front on...lowwer down shot im thinking naa mabe not lol

If i ever did carry on it would not be soo low etc

Any ideas...?

Yeah..from the sides it looks OK..from the front...the two openings are not right...but good effort...you may be able to tweak and fiber glass maybe?

No no and no.

Sorry mate but its not good. It needs to be different to the rest of the bumper.

I've seen a lot worse - needs tweaking as Lammy says - change the shape and size of bottom hole - maybe as though it's to feed an intercooler or oil cooler. Sides maybe need a gentle change of direction to not make the front look too heavy.

Definite potential...

Ray yeh its a W.I.P have you not seen my post in `Projects and builds`....?

Yeh thats the only part of the front i dont like apart from making it not so deep/low....Ive not lost anything and theres no damage to my pocket..i thought about losing the hole all together.

Definite potential...

Just don't think it would suit the car mate

its got 2 bottom vents for one it dont look right to make it look right you would have to make it in to one big hole and mould it with fibreglass which would be a lot of work to make look right be cheaper buying a proper kit

Ahh you hit the nail on the head there....I might cut off more to make it higher to see if it could have been blended in near the vent.

Well, what do you want me to say?

I said "good idea" (as in complementing you for the initiative for trying something) but it looks "bloody awful" as in , f***ing look at at & tell me that wasn't a good plan but a bad plan!

I ain't going to sugar coat something that looks awful!

ok it looks like youve run out of money and rather than wait till your finances improve youve resorted to cuttin a bumper up to try an improve the look of your cally.yes its only an idea but im not gonna say it looks good if i think it looks sh*t mate.its only my opinion but its your car no offence intended.

please dont take offence sealey but i reckon if you did go ahead with that the vent would look far too big and spoil the look of the cally IMO. If it was me I'd wait until your able to get another bumper
