fitting clear lenses to headlights with hids. help!

Ive fitted the hids, theyre great, Ive bought the clear lenses of ebay, should be fitting them this weekend.  But is there anything I should be aware off when doing this?  Does the front bumper have to come off?  Are there any good mods I can make to the headlight while they are apart?  Can I do anything to the indicator part of the headlight?  Like get rid of the inner lens?

Bumper needs to come off to get to headlights, are you fitting clear lens to standard headlights ?

Then all you need to do is to change the lens, easy swap.

As for the inner indicator lens there isn't anything you can do as its part of the indicator reflector, here's a pic of mine - standard headlight units with angel eyes, HID's and clear lens.

Thats the look Im originally going for, without the angeleyes.  Just wondering if anyone else has any other mods I could do while the lots apart?  Shame about the indiactors...    would silvertec bulbs make them look different?

Other then fitting angeleyes there isn't anything else you can change, silvertec would make no difference as you can not see the indicator bulbs.

Thanks for that, saved money on the bulbs!   ;)  How long did it take you to do both lights, taking the bumper off, etc?

I can do the headlight lens swap in about an hour, give or take a tea break :)

Make sure the original headlight lens rubbers are clean, i added a small line of silicone sealant to the rubber for a better seal.

When changing the lenses im shure you have to `flatten` the back edge so they make a good seal...i know you have to do this if you fit `Sonar` lenses from angel eye head lights......it stops them from getting condensation inside.

Only tip I'd say when removing front bumper is make sure you remove the air temp sensor from the bumper. On passenger side at the bottom of the bumper at the front. Otherwise it's a really straightforward job.

Direct fit clear lenses are very rare mate but you can take the clear lenses off angel eye headlights and fit them to the standard calibra headlights but like someone mentioned above you need to modify the sealing edge slightly.
