engine / box / caliper paint
« on: November 06, 2011, 20:26:55 PM »
hi, i didnt quite pick up my engine stand today, the guy was out for family dinner.  Anyway will be getting it tomorrow or tuesday.  Ive taken my F28 home and it'll be the 1st thing onto the stand.  Its in great nick but its matt black and the paint is lifting a tiny bit plus i want to colour code it.  So it will be box 1st then the engine.

What have you guys used thats good sh*t?? would prefer rattle tiny for that really smooth finish.

Links rewarded with karma lol

cheers

If Laliiii is talking powder coating you will have to remove the calipers from the car - strip them down completely - then remove all rust etc prior to coating. After coating they are going to need rebuilding and refitting.
Personally I would go with ALZ's suggestion - Hammerite every time on calipers.
VHT for engine and gearbox - although people have had success with - again - Hammerite.
I'm using Simoniz VHT Aluminium as I've got an aluminium block and I'm trying to make it look natural.... if that makes sense.

hammerrite will do ok for now on the capilers as in the very near future i will be going back to the capilers when i'll be converting to 308mm and will do it to perfection then.
