Pre Face Lift / Post Face lift
« on: February 09, 2012, 08:59:39 AM »
Hi guys and gals....excuse my ignorance but when/which models did the 'facelift' start with as in pre facelift / post facelift of the Calibras?  I get it probably means a change of style or shape or something, but am looking at getting parts/panels from say a 2001 2L Callie for our 1996 YE95 V6 and am not sure if they are interchangeable.

Hope you can help.  Thanks

Erm, the Calibra stopped production in 1998 so there's no 2001 model (unless there were some un-registered one's kicking around in Oz until 2001).

The 'faclift' was in 1995 & simply involved a 'V-Grill' on the front bumper, nothing more.

All body panels, trim & fittings are interchangeable between all models. Suspension components are pretty much the same too.

Thanks for that - you have been most helpful ....now the hunt for some panels as looks like our original plan may fall through.

No problem, I sorted out a damaged 1995 Calibra with various panels & rear suspension arms from a 1990 model & have used loads more spares from it since. :)

thanks for contacting me .... I'm down in Tas so a bit hard to organise so quickly, but we are after a front bumper, front left guard, front left strut, both side mirrors, back rear window pane right side.  By your post it sounds like you don't have the front stuff?

LoL  I'd heard you'd had a little rain recently, although not as bad as last year's floods, or cyclone Yasi!

I've got friends in Toowoomba and could hardly believe how a town on top of a hill could get flooded as badly as they did last year.  Not to mention all the suburbs of Brisbane that had been built along the lines of the mangrove swamps that used to line the Brisbane River.

My ex-brother-in-law's place in Trinity Bay got 'clipped' by the edge of Yasi, but fortunately the eye of the cyclone made landfall a little further South.

I guess, the hollow in the top of the hill used to be a marsh.  When the marsh was gradually drained, except for the 'stream' through the middle, the town gradually moved from the higher ground round the edge of the hill in towards the centre.  That's the only way I could explain the extraordinary flood that raged through the town last year.  I'm still not sure where so much rain was collected before it ripped through the town.

it was in a dam and they left it to late to slowly let the water out and it all came at the same time

Doh!  Although I thought that was what they did further down the Brisbane River, when they were trying to protect Brisbane CBD, by keeping the water back in a dam between Toowoomba and Brisbane, somewhere like the Pine River dam, in the hope that it would stop raining and they could then control the flow into the river.  In the end it went on raining and they had to release it and that was when Brisbane flooded.  I remember my son-in-law got caught in the evacuation traffic on his way home from work near Rose(?) Station.
