For the prices I've been quoted for Calibras that seems a reasonable deal for a late, low mileage V6.

Whereabouts in Aus are you?

Haha good point, my fault for using the "view recent posts" section without looking lol. Besides, I've not been up long

Know what you mean, I pretty much only use the "view recent posts" and have come unstuck a few times too

i live in bathurst in nsw. im sure you all would know where that is anyway haha. the car has only ever had one owner and it was basically his 4th car so in recent years it has never been driven. interior is perfect and apart from a few small scratches in the paint the exterior is perfect too. probably needs a service as the bloke was a bit of a tight ass and never had many proper services done on it as he had a friend who was a mechanic and just fixed what needed to be fixed. but i think i got a good deal anyway.

Hey guys, finally got around to taking the car to a garage and the news has been pretty horrorfic.

Needs replacing: Left ball joint, front driveshaft snapped, engine mount, leaks everywhere,timing belt and there's also some steering rack play

I've been quoted ~3k minimuim to repair i'm wondering how many parts are interchangeable from the Fwd models?

As i've seen a few being sold as parts. If that falls through then i'll have to cut my losses, Is it worth selling it as a whole or selling parts here and there?

Blimey , sounds as if you have bought a real lemon.

Do you trust the garage you took it too?
What details did they provide on the snapped driveshaft? Or anything else for that matter...

Is your 4wd working?
( I saw the 4x4 dashboard light in one of your previous pix)

Yeah I trust them, it's a friend of my mother's and he demonstrated everything to me the driveshaft or the right side is totally screwed. The ball joint on the left is knackered. you can shake the left wheel very easily which he showed me while it was on the hoist. It wiggles everywhere, the engine mount is gone you can see everything shake if you apply pressure.

The oil is leaking from everywhere, you name it and i'm leaking it and the timing belt needs to be replaced. That's also hoping the bearings are still in good nick but from the sounds i've heard it sounds like one is not right.

Funnily enough the 4wd and the turbo the 2 main things I was worried about, both fine

Also that 3k quote is them charging minimal amounts for labour, and totally ignoring the steering rack which he says will set me back 1.5k just for the part.

I'm new to this so can you help out. I have a 1996 low milage calibra turbo 4X4 in Perth and need parts to front end ie lights , hood, bumper etc .. where can I source them?? also do you know of a good quality calibra same spec I could purchase??
