I meant that out of the pics that Ash put up, the Insignia based coupe was the one being released and probably badged as the Calibra :-)

Opel CEO and GM Europe topman Nick Reilly anounces come back of Opel Calibra in a new and bigger coupe. The inspiration source will be the in Geneve 2007 announced GTC conceptcar with a 320 BHP 2,8 liter V6 turbo. Opel cancelled their original Calibra model in 1997, over 250,000 where sold.

I agree JT, that has a much bigger resemblance to the current calibra than this new fat arsed version.

At least it will have some bloody reliabilty I guess.

How they could justify badging it as a Calibra is beyond me. There is no sign of any evolution from the old Calibra and Vauxhall are just climbing on the sales bandwagon to
punt a few more sales through the showroom. If they wanted to do it properly then they should look to the Mini and Fiat 500 to see how its done.

if they re-modelled the monaro with a slightly lower powered engine 3L with turbo that would be sweet, but not the insignia that is a horrible looking car.

Agreed, to be honest I think GM missed a trick with the Monaro, this would have been a perfect opportunity to realease it as the new calibra, all it needed was some smaller engine variants and leave the v8 engines to go in the VXR8's.

Due to the larger engine capacity and as a result a larger price tag, you won't be seeing many new members signing up with one even if they do make a newer version. Infact it's likely that you will see the arrival of a ClubcalibraMK2.com/net etc

I'd thought we where going ECO ? LOL !!! . Lately a friend of mine got the Audi A1 from the showroom for a testdrive, it's a 1.4 turbo kicking out 122 hp, doing 1:10 ( 1 liter to 10 kilometer ), that's rediculous these times! That's the same a 2.0 16v c20xe from a decade ago uses. Where being bullshitted hard with the ECO car talk. car are getting heavier and heavier, and their engins bigger and complexer, eco? yeah my arse. Money scheme for the rich? YES.
