All,

I just performed a minor DB upgrade to restore the functionality of £ symbol, all appears to have been implemented successfully but please report any issues that you might spot.

Unfortunately, in the process, any posts made to threads between 10am and 12pm will have been lost :(

Thanks, and sorry for it took so long to resolve the £ symbol issue...I ran out of excuses :)

Just tried to +rep you for doing so, but that didn't seem to work.

Can't rep other members either.

Reps seem to be reset.

Oh no, I see that now - looks like the DB upgrade has reset rep levels :( sorry guys but this will be impossible to fix without rolling the DB back to the pre-upgrade state :( fresh start!

Has there been an offer of donations in the past if I remember rightly? I'm a member on a motorcycle form where you can choose to donate and basically get a title under your username saying 'forum sponsor' completely upto the individuals but the majority of people have the title, the amount donated is not disclosed.

I admit that forum is a lot busier than this one so the work running it would take more time but it's a thought?

I think it wants some thought though I am against 'having' to be a paid member to attend shows :)

The donation function on the motorcycle forum seems to work well, they still have annual meets and ride outs and don't force people to pay before they can attend, like I say though that's a very busy forum so small donations from the majority of members probably amounts to a large amount of income.

It is a difficult one as it would instantly put people off if suddenly made to pay to attend meets.

We tried donations some years ago - people were unfortunately unwilling to put their hands in their pockets. It can work on a busy forum, we're too niche to be busy unfortunately.

Seems to work on cc.net.

They outnumbered us quite significantly at VBOA & I got the feeling this was not an exception.
I understand you have to be a paid up member to attend their meets?
