Agreed Angus, I'm not a fan of mini's or beetles but I respect the originality and querkiness of them both, the newer models were just bigger, fatter and vaguely resembled the icon they were copying.
Some cars from the 80's and 90's should just be left alone and be remembered for the classic motors they were rather than have some joke of a new model ruining the status of the older variant.
No doubt some of the newer variants of old models are good cars, just give them another bloody name, it's not like there's a lack of them out there

On the vauxhall scene alone, they should leave novas, calibras, cavaliers, mantas etc as models that were legendary back in their day that are not to be resurrected otherwise you'll end up with a new calibra that bares as much resemblance to the old as the vectra does to the insignia
