Announcement: Lovers not fighters!
« on: March 09, 2008, 17:12:40 PM »
Members of ClubCalibra.com,

For a change, this isn't a post for which I need discussion - its policy, simple as that.

Whenever someone signs up for a club, its generally because they have a real pride in their possession, be it a car or a stamp! - eitherway, your possession will not always be interpreted as you expect, some may think that it is incredibly ugly or distasteful.

It is a natural element of life for everyone to have an opinion, its however down to the tact of the person expressing it as to whether or not they justify their view constructively.

IF you are willing to post a picture of your Calibra on any website stating 'My Amazing 16v', you are immediately giving out your perception of your own vehicle, and that you're pleased with its look/image BUT PLEASE ACCEPT that NOT ALL will share that view, they may choose to disagree and for the more intelligent amongst our community, they will justify WHY they disagree.

My point being, by posting pictures of your car you are asking for feedback so don't expect it all to be positive but embrace any feedback and take onboard all comments, negative or positive - respond maturely and be the adult, don't throw your toys out of the pram and make yourself look stupid.

On the other hand, for those commenting think twice before responding with 'urghh, how ugly' and instead respond constructively so as to give the owner some hints, i.e.

Quote
"in my opinion the spoiler is too large and doesn't fit the natural shape of the rear boot, its too universal, I would perhaps consider this brand as it would look excellent..."

By being constructive not only do you appear to have considered your reply, but you are showing your maturity and respect for others.

In addition, unlike some websites our moderators are simply normal members such as yourselves, but with powers to police this site and keep it mature, sensible and relevant - do not criticise them simply because they don't give you a flowery pretty ass-kissing response, and remember that they are only like you, here to discuss the Calibra.

Troublemakers, generally idiots with half a brain cell, incapable of spelling or putting together a sentence, get very quickly banned from this website, hence why we see very little trouble - if you have a problem, approach me directly via PM, do not post childish comments publically that ultimately only make you look ridiculously stupid to other members.

I hope this makes sense, I've built up a great community here and would not like to see it travel downwards and fail, as other 'wannabe' communities have during the past year.

Many thanks,

Cheers, Ash

shame really that most of the mods hack new members to bits about spoilers lexasre lights and the likes.yes there aint everyone taste but the people that fit them do like them and when its a newbe its the last thing they wanna hear about their pride and joy. a good way to stop other members slating newbes acar would be to just post pics and  make it a locked style topic, so people cant reply good or bad.after the "welcome" i got on here with my car when i joined .net, i still havent posted any pics of it. maybe a good way to get newbes to post pics would be to have a picture board or locked topic for car pics only??? worth a thought if possible

I agree with Busta1 in a way, although what Ash said is spot on and make's sense not naming pepole but its the pepole who have been he alot longer than others who slander cars for spoilers and lexus lights ( even by calling them LexArse is stating they are sh*t)
but then again i disagree with busta1, I dont reckon the topics should be locked otherwise whats the point in showing you car off. I put mine on here and pepole told me what they thought of it and looking on what K30/Adam said for example, I agree i do need to lower it...but it wasnt a insult was it. theres no point in showing your car off if you dont want to know what pepole think of it
But yeah totally agree with Ash..get a grip boyos! lol :D

lol waffler. i spent ages thinking of what to put in that and now im not even sure if it makes sense

Thanks mate, the summary point being, if you aren't mature enough to comment constructively, don't comment - equally if you aren't mature enough to take constructive critiscm, don't show us your car!!

I have to admit, some of the car's posted, I too think "what the f*ck were you thinking", but I don't comment, or if I do I comment constructively.

Sadly the Calibra's become a cheap runaround that anyone can afford (not like the old days when I paid £4,400 for my 1996 Cally). Therefore, the trends and likes of the current owners differs somewhat from the views of myself and the other long term Cally owners (including many of the mods).

I guess in a sense, we're dismayed at what some people are doing to these beautiful cars, but from now on, constructive comment is a ClubCalibra.com policy - it applies even to mods, whom will be penalised/mod rights removed if they equally do not abide by my request.
