Announcement: Do you want ClubCalibra to expand?
« on: November 22, 2010, 15:03:19 PM »
With very minimal effort and inconvenience to users, a new forum section can be added along with it's own subset of separate forums to cater for the other most popular car manufacturers - this would allow discussion about cars other than the Calibra!

The appearance of the new section would be similar to the current 'Regional/International ClubCalibra' section, with it's subforums just below the main link.

It would help us to retain our members that sell their Cally's and move on - it would also bring new expertise and experience to the site! The focus on the Calibra would NEVER be lost, but we are aware that to keep busy, we have to cater for a wider range of vehicles.

So, what do you think?

TBH Ash, I can see where you are coming from, but there are numerous websites out there to already cover this. Maybe a Tech part for none Calibra vehicles would be a compromise.

I think it would be a great idea as a lot of current members have moved on from the Calibra but are still on the site and we have lost some members who left when they sold there cars

Me no like, considering we are a model specific site I think were doing dandy honestly! Would I log on to read what some oik is doing to their Corsa or Saxo, erm no frankly! Too 'Max Power' for me. And lets face it there are plenty that cater for all. If someone does have a non Cally issue they'd post anyway :)

I usually ask my Astra related questions here due to not really liking other websites.

Im not sure if sub forums are needed or maybe just a 'non calibra tech' type thing.

Maybe an 'Ex-Calibra' forum to post pics of your new car, mods you're doing, washed it pics etc. Can't do any harm and I know of a few people like myself who have different cars and share them on here.

I agree with Alz to an extent but 99.9% of the time when people sell their Calibr they move onto something nicer rather than a Saxo or Daihatsu Copen,. I like to think when I'm sharing pics of my new cars people are still taking an interest just because it isn't a Calibra.

Don't have a problem with it.

However, I believe there should only be one section though, for 'non-calibra' related items. It should be a small part of the site, this is still primarily a Calibra forum.

Most people talk about other cars anyway in Random, so I wouldn't be bothered if the site stayed how it is :)

I think one sub section for non calibras would be good for the exact reasons Phil stated. I'm not being biased but I personally enjoyed seeing Phil's Audi being restored and repaired and would like to think that one day I'd have an outlet to show off any projects I may have to like minded members on here.

One key thing alot of you overlook is that yes there are other forums that cater for other cars but the reason the ex calibra owners stick around is the cc community. I'd appreciate praise or criticism more from the likes of Bad kid, chip, barra, Dan, Gav etc than some chav or pipe smoking piss stained pensioner on another forum.
