Announcement: ClubCalibra Moderators
« on: February 14, 2009, 13:51:45 PM »
Guys,

We're looking to recruit some additional ClubCalibra moderators, you are NOT allowed you nominate yourselves but you are permitted to suggest a list of reliable, unbiased, intelligent long term members - I'm not looking for trouble makers, just responsible members of the community, perhaps even those that sit back and make only the occasional but useful/constructive comment.

Our current moderators are (some more active than others)...

BMW Driver
ings
K30 / Adam
Manfred
Richie86
ruffday
Trigger

I look forward to your nominations within this thread (NO PMs).

It shouldn't be any of the people on here that regularly spam threads, or post up incorrect technical advice. That's all I'd suggest.

As for names then RobbieV for sure.

Agreed, we need members that will set a good example, members that aren't entirely 100% active in the community but have a presence. As a moderator, you have to be prepared to 'step back' a little.

People mention J@z but he keeps on posting up suggestions for people's car problems that are usually inaccurate or irrelevant. Fair play for trying, but if people had followed some of his previous suggestions they'd waste a lot of time, money and effort. If this advice is coming from a moderator it will carry more weight and could leave a lot of people with broken cars and empty wallets :(

Wouldn't somebody like CalibraTurbo666 be a better choice? He's always bang on the money with his advice and very helpful.

Agreed Chav but J@z isn't wrong that often and i'm sure if he was a mod he'd make sure any replies are technically spot on. Not all the mods on here are technically on the money but it doesn't stop them doing a good job. I agree that turbo666 is a good suggestion but he isn't on here that often.

I think the forum is in need of a womans touch moderation wise so Debz or Alz would do a great job IMO ;)

How many current moderators actually have the good, accurate technical knowledge that you are suggesting?

Being a moderator is not about having all the answers but more about being able to keep this site & it's members together & knowing when to "jump in" & resolve a situation that is heading in a negative direction.

Fair point, I have to say J@z's replies are very thorough though and never seen a problem!

That's why I'm inclined to suggest the more "level headed" members to become moderators. Technical information should come from other members based on thier own skills & experience, I don't believe that this is particually a requirement in terms of what would make a good moderator.

agreed dan .... being a mod i think is more about diplomacy than technical knowledge along with having the time and alil patience  . the mods are usually the sites 1st call for any newbie problems which should be answered with courtesy , being able to be firm but fair  , after all its a comunity and disagreements will always happen .

thanks but count me out guys ....... but my votes would be for robbiev or j@z and the ladies would have to be alz or diva if she has time cos i know she works bloody hard - nurses always do . all of whom ive pm`d with various questions and got a informative , friendly reply - even if they havent known the answer  ;D

Thanks for the vote of confidence Debz. I would not mind being a Moderator. I am often lurking around even if I don't post a lot these days. Between me and Trigger, one of us is usually around on the site to keep an eye on things.
you were correctly parked.
That's not much consolation if some tosspot smashes his vehicle into yours!

I think Debz is being a little modest tbh. I agree Diva is a good choice aswell, was just saying  debz has always been helpful and never had a bad word to say about anyone on here. If you aren't interested Debz then thats fair enough, i'm just saying I think you'd be a good moderator.

Still waiting for MrCarl to show up and fight his corner lol!
