Announcement: A new year, a new look

We've been running happily on the SMF Forum platform for some time and the site has been in dire need of an upgrade to the latest version. I have spent the day bringing the site up to the latest version as well as adding a few cosmetic improvements.

The new version of the site includes various bug fixes and improvements behind the scenes, it also enables the opportunity to extend the end-user experience to add features such as:

  • Quick Reply to topics without page refresh
  • Facebook 'LIKE' on topics/replies

These features and more will be added over the coming weeks, as well as features that you have used in the past being restored (no data lost), such as Trader Feedback etc.

Finally, you'll notice the new header - if you have some high-resolution images that you feel would fit well into the new look, let me know and I'll consider them for implementation. Send me a PM with a link to the images.

Oooooh!  Like it.   :D

A few minor quibbles:
  • By putting '>Show unread posts since last visit' and '>Show new replies to your posts' in small point immediately above one another, it is easier to click on the wrong one by mistake.  When they were side by side this was never a problem.
  • The banner picture half obscures the names of the tabs, except for the one that is highlighted, because the typeface doesn't stand out against the image (similar to the problem of subtitles on some tv programmes).
  • I used to have posts displayed in reverse chronological order with the most recent posts displayed at the top.  They have now reversed to show the oldest post at the top.  I assume I have to go back in to My Profile and change the option again.
  • The layout function buttons don't appear to be working properly.  I've had to create this list manually using the text commands.

ASH: I think this is just because its new, you'll soon use these new links with ease :)

ASH: The alignment is good for me, what web browser are you using and could you provide a screenshot?

ASH: Yes, this is very much personal choice, the majority of users expect the latest reply to be on the last page - therefore you'll have to amend this yourself via your profile settings.

Afternoon all :D

The banner is fine for me too (on Chrome). Can see all 'tabs' very clearly, logout, messages etc.

I have no quote function and the smileys don't work when clicked.
