damn the pics not very helpfull pretty small.  As stupid as it sounds how do you 'switch' it?

Its litterally a switch, just push it across into the 98 position:)
I'd rather drive a Vauxhall than push a VW

I'm on my mobile and I can't see the picture, but I'm sure on mine its near the diagnostics plug up near the bulk head near the alarm sounder, if its any help I've got an R reg ecotech its one of the last ones

its defo not there.  Im in the right area but all there is, is the diagnostic plug.  No switch. my cally is one of the last runs as well, R reg.

confused by what you mean buddy, i thought it was a completely seperate switch.

i haven't got one on my P reg ecotec i have only seen them on the 8v cav but that's not to say there not on the early ones

If I can get a picture this week I will do, maybe thursday or friday, I wouldn't have thought mine would have it if yours didn't, maybe I'm describing the wrong place, I crashed mine in february and not had much cause to pay the engine and electrics and notice

Ill have another look tomorrow.

As an after thought, have you looked round the abs module? Some of the wiring on mine wasn't original so unless its been moved? If it was by the module on the 8V then it may be there on yours

Erm big lump of metal north of the battery, should have about four pipes coming out of the top/side
